CCAC recognised in Coppermill Primary School OFSTED report

CCAC was intrigued to learn that our co-design collaboration with Xavier de Kestelier of Hassell was mentioned in Coppermill Primary School’s recent OFSTED report.

CCAC was founded in 2020 by a small group of designers and educators who are committed to ensuring that both climate literacy and design should be properly represented in the primary curriculum. In this endeavour, we’ve been helped by our courageous partner schools, who have embraced our programme and helped us to expand it. Coppermill has been a founding partner in this, and we expect to continue our collaboration in years to come.

The rewards for CCAC are manifold: but chiefly we value seeing the impact our work has on Yr 5 children – helping them to flourish, mature and begin to think about their future professional lives. To have this recognised by OFSTED is an added bonus.

“Pupils take part in a wide variety of exciting activities which help them to understand the part they play in society…They particularly enjoyed having the chance to work with an architect to design buildings for the future. Their work is displayed at a London gallery for others to learn from.” Ofsted report, June 2024

Following Coppermill, Hassell has created a similar project at Clapham Manor Primary School and will start at St John’s and St Clement’s in the Autumn. CCAC sincerely appreciates Hassell‘s commitment to the programme and the inspiration their designers bring to London’s primary school students.
